This video is about the summer reading program Cover to Cover that was piloted at Butcher-Greene Elementary School in partnership with the Grandview Education Foundation.

gram weigh why did 420 students at butcher Greene Elementary is a pilot project to our library we set it up the library of sort of a book don't you pick your books and you come back and sit down those books are your book you looked at the number of books that kids receive before summer starts and looks like the most research numbers are between 10 and 12 books per student so we looked at the type of books that students receive really interesting book high-interest books are books that kids are going to really want to choose and take home and read say color in and looks like that cancelled shows again when students are allowed to choose both they will read those books for my little brother and me find stuff you get this we were wallet but the level of enthusiasm from the kids was just was fantastic swim near Granby education program brought that to us I was really excited about it so because we all know that sometimes I kids will lose but then game throughout the year and then lose that enthusiasm for reading so I thought this would be an excellent time for them to just keep that enthusiasm my so we were really excited about it really heartwarming remarks that they were leaving have a great summer this'll be the best summer ever I mean these kids were just thrilled to get their books with what I think on the cover to cover with an excellent thing for the summer for the kids I think the will enjoy the books they enjoy picking them out many of our students in their home or have very few books they may not able to participate in a library summer reading program are kids going to need to continue to grow they need to continue to be able to get into the Attic I'm excited about reading one child said I appreciate the program you guys did and all the time that you gave us thanks to you I'll get smarter smarter every day and then we had a little girl said I appreciate you letting us get free books I'm setting up a library in my own house it's called booktopia it's so cool and really that's what the whole concept behind giving kids books so the Education Foundation and pretty cover really looking at how we can expand this program next year we'd love to be able to go into perhaps just one more Elementary School each year until we able to be an all fiber of our elementary schools if parents were excited that we were giving out books one parents of gay now I have something to do over the phone show me all excited about reading so yeah we did get some response from the students and parents Mario movie kid how to read get going to raining a lot and pretty fun the education foundation's very excited about the impacted this cover to cover program has had the pilot program at butcher-greene and we're really looking forward to the future
