It is my pleasure to welcome you and your child to Kindergarten at Butcher-Greene Elementary!
Kindergarten today is likely a very different experience from when you were young; much is required of these students in terms of academic and social skills, and they will make a great deal of progress in this first year of real school. If this is your child’s first experience with school and you need some help or extra tips, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with me. Although each child learns in his or her own way, I have high expectations for all my students. It is my intention to motivate and challenge each child, but support from parents and other adults at home is also a key part of student success. I want to work together with you this year to foster the growth of your Kindergarten student!
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Technology. The 2019-20 school year is my fifth year at Butcher-Greene and my 15th year in education. I have also taught 1st and 2nd grades, but I love teaching Kindergarten the most and have taught it the longest. I enjoy it so much because of all the growth students show from the beginning to the end of the year. It's so awesome seeing and being a part of those "Aha!" moments that come so frequently with kids at this age. When I am not at BG, you will find me cheering on my own kids at their various sports and activities, or at home reading or snuggling with our pets.
We’re going to be very busy in Kindergarten this year! Thank you in advance for your support. Together, let's make it a great school year!
